On Wednesday, 17th September 2025, the Brethren of Rowena Lodge No. 3180 gathered at Freemasons’ Hall, Knole Road, Bournemouth, for a very special evening in the history of our Lodge. Brother Steve, who had already been initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry, was passed to the Second Degree, also known as the Fellowcraft Degree.

The ceremony was conducted with great dignity and solemnity, reflecting the long-held traditions of the Craft. In a rare and memorable arrangement, the work of the degree was shared between Brother Steve’s Proposer, Worshipful Brother Flood, and his Seconder, Worshipful Brother Acworth. Both Brethren brought their own experience, insight, and personal touch to the evening, ensuring that the occasion was not only faithful to the ritual but also deeply meaningful to the Candidate.

Brother Steve conducted himself admirably throughout the ceremony, and the Lodge was pleased to welcome him formally into the next stage of his Masonic journey. Brother Craig, Senior Deacon, guided Brother Steve expertly through the ceremony, and the passing to the Fellowcraft Degree proved to be an important milestone, representing a Brother’s continued progress in understanding the moral, intellectual, and spiritual teachings of Freemasonry.
After the ceremony, the Brethren retired to the Festive Board, where warm congratulations were extended to Brother Steve. The sense of fraternity, harmony, and shared purpose was evident, reminding all present of the strength of our Masonic bonds.
This significant evening will be long remembered not only for the excellence of the ritual but also for the way it highlighted the supportive role of a Brother’s Proposer and Seconder. Both Worshipful Brothers Flood and Acworth demonstrated the true spirit of Masonic mentorship, guiding Brother Steve through the next step in his journey in the Craft.
Rowena Lodge No. 3180 looks forward with great anticipation to seeing Brother Steve continue to flourish within the Lodge, and we wish him every success as he travels onward in Freemasonry.
